We were honoured to be selected as the winner of the Northern Irish Exporter of the Year at the 2023 Causeway Exchange Awards. The organisation has a key aim to support and encourage business growth and collaboration in businesses across Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland. Sponsored by Invest NI and Northern Irish Connections, the award is a celebration of a Northern Irish business that has made a significant impact in Scotland, by either exporting business across the Irish Sea or by exporting products or services to Scotland. We were also shortlisted for the Innovative Organisation of the Year at the awards for our playground safety surfacing Tumble Turf.
Innovation & Technology Award
We were proud to be selected as the Overall Winner of the Innovation and Technology Award at the 2023 North West Business Awards. Organised by the City Centre Initiative and the Derry-Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, the North West Business Awards celebrate innovation, entrepreneurship, technology and creativity, and honour the excellence of people going the extra mile for their customers and clients, and cast a spotlight on the vast array of businesses doing amazing things in the North West. We are proud to continue to push boundaries in the development of new and exciting projects and products, which is only possible thanks to our hard working team.
Fusion Programme - EXEMPLAR AWARD
In 2019 Hawthorn Heights completed the ‘Fusion Programme’, a cross border initiative funded by InterTradeIreland. This programme enabled us to innovate our Design and Construction processes through the use of process mapping, lean waste minimization coupled with 3D design and project management development. This programme was co-ordinated in partnership with the Institute of Technology Sligo and has helped instil an attitude of lean thinking within the company, enabling us to utilise the new business model to our advantage. The programme has been a huge success within our company. Our graduate (employed as part of the programme) has recently won an ‘Exemplar Award’ for the standard of work undertaken, the level of innovation involved and benefits accrued for each of the project partners, something presented to only two companies in Northern Ireland in 2019. Hawthorn Heights were very proud to be involved in this project and the innovative tool has benefitted our business immensely.
